Reflection, I believe, is one of the most powerful tools that gives depth to humanity. When we stop to reflect on what has passed – the joys, the struggles, the accomplishments, the losses, the relationships that grew out of these experiences – our life going forward becomes all the richer, because we learn and grow. So I am especially thankful for the Christmas/New Years season: a season to cherish and reflect.
To put it eloquently, 2014 was nuts. This is Alba Photography’s second wedding season, and the number of weddings doubled from 2013! This meant that the number of couples (and other non-wedding clients) I got the privilege of connecting with doubled. And for that reason my heart is so full. To all of you: I loved getting to know you, I loved hearing your stories, I loved documenting a piece of your journey through photographs, and I LOVED sharing in a day that will remain so near to your hearts. Each wedding day was a fantastic adventure; truly, this is only the beginning for you, so I continue to cheer you on!
This year also came with its surprises. In March, with only 9 days notice I hopped on a plane to the Middle East, and then in April, with only 12 days notice I was on my way to serve with the Ethos Mexico Mission in the Copper Canyon. I still have a hard time wrapping my mind around that. Meeting beautiful people, experiencing cultures so different from my own, and seeing God’s kingdom at work around the world, are things I cannot put a price tag on.
As 2014 comes to a close, I am reminded why I do all this. It’s because of you. To bless you by capturing your memories, your beauty, and your relationships. To those I worked with in 2014, thank you for you entrusting me with documenting this season. And to those I have yet to work with, I am so looking forward to creating something AWESOME for you! Thank you to my friends and family who encourage me through all the blood, sweat and tears. And thanks and praise be to God for all He has done through Alba Photography, and all He has yet to do!
Welcome, 2015.
