2013 marks the beginning. In January I launched Alba’s website, letting the World Wide Web know that I was officially available as a wedding and portrait photographer. I had no idea what to expect for my first year in business. How blessed this year has been! I could not have anticipated photographing 7 of my own weddings, as well as 7 as an assistant shooter, and another 25+ photography projects including engagements, portraits, and events. Whew!
But please, enough about me. Let’s talk about you. Because truly, you are the reason I do what I do. Although I love the creativity, the spontaneity, and the challenge that this job brings, the real joy comes from getting to share them with you. My love for photography was birthed out of a love for people.
I love you – that’s why I do it. Before every meeting and every photo session, I ask God for his help not only for everything to go well, but that I would be able to bless the people I’m photographing. Each click of the shutter gives me that opportunity, as well as every meeting over coffee or photo delivery. You are all different, you are all valuable, and you are all loved. Photography is my medium of communicating this. And the only reason I am able to attempt to love like this is because of the love I have found in my heavenly Father.
1 John 4:16 & 19
So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him… We love because he first loved us.
After only a year of working as a photographer, every project is continually reaffirming why Alba exists: to love. Thank you to those who have helped me get started, who have supported me, taught me, and been patient with me as I strive to improve and give my best. And for those who will, or already have, book me for 2014 and beyond, I am so looking forward to getting to know you and creating something for you. There is more to be done, more adventures to be had, more to learn, and more people to love.
These photos are a collection of my favourites of 2013. Enjoy!
