When Kathryn moved here from Florida just over a year ago, I don’t think she anticipated being married by August 2013, yet here we are!
Upon her moving to Vancouver, Kathryn looked online for a Christian young adult church to get connected in a good community. She found Ethos. It just so happened that the night she visited, Dave was preaching. Kathryn noticed that he didn’t have a ring. After the service she wanted to introduce herself to him but felt the Lord put it on her heart that she needed to wait. So that was that.
Fast-forward a few months to the fall of 2012. Kathryn & Dave are both studying at ACTS seminary. Dave walks into a coffee shop on campus and notices this beautiful girl. And this girl recognizes him, “Hey, you’re involved at Ethos!” Kathryn had remembered him and with a friendly smile introduced herself. After that encounter Dave started coming to that coffee shop to “run into” Kathryn a lot more. At one point Kathryn’s friend pointed out, “He comes in here a lot – I think he likes you.” Kathryn replied, “Oh, I hope so!”
The two had their first date not long after, and after the first date it just stuck. Dave noted that things moved rather quickly because God was affirming their relationship every step of the way. They knew early on that they wanted to get married. So, on Good Friday of 2013, Dave was on one knee asking Kathryn to be his.
August 23, 2013, Dave married a girl who completely accepts him as he is, a girl who radiates with joy, and who recognizes that Jesus is still the most important guy in her life. Kathryn married a man who, again, loves Jesus even more than her, a man who truly listens, and who values what she has to say. These were all their words when describing what they love about each other. And it’s my hope that this list will grow exponentially in this new season of life as husband and wife! Congratulations Dave & Kathryn, and thank you for letting me share in your special day!
