Mackenzie & Emily – Engagement

I don’t think I’ve ever done an engagement shoot that involved as much laughter as Mac & Emily’s. Seriously, had a blast with these two. And my cheeks hurt from smiling so much after it was all done.

Mac isn’t normally a planner of any sort. So Emily had a slight suspicion that something was up and that a proposal was coming. But Mac had some tricks up his sleeve. He had their friend Averee invite Emily to a bonfire. Emily in turn invited Mac, though she was unknowingly inviting Mac to her own proposal. They both have bonded over the years through a love for lobster, so after an extravagant lobster dinner they headed to the bonfire. As soon as they had parked where they were allowed to park for free, Mac noticed one of their friends, Kim, outside and said, “I don’t think we should park here. I don’t wanna risk it” Emily thought it was rather dumb but didn’t make an issue of it and they began walking to where they were supposed to meet everyone at the beach. It was quite a long walk. As they got closer Emily saw lanterns and realized what was going on. She got nervous and told Mac, “Ok I just need to walk over here now”.

Mac had lit 70 lanterns and had a bonfire set up for them. A beautiful scene. He proposed; she said yes. Champagne followed shortly thereafter. With one last trick up his sleeve, and the help of some friends, Mac surprised Emily with fireworks on the beach! For not being much of a planner, he pulled off a solid proposal.

PS. I also had the opportunity to photograph Mac & Emily’s engagement party. I posted a few photos on this blog post following the engagement session – don’t miss ‘em!
