It’s funny how things work out… Once upon a time I went to camp and met a whole new group of friends. Upon hanging out with these friends I met their families. Specifically, I met one of my best friends’ cousin Jenna. I also met Kris somewhere along the line. Not long after I had met the two of them, Jenna & Kris started dating. One day Jenna decided to become a cheesemaker and her family opened up the local sensation Golden Ears Cheesecrafters. I happened to be looking for a job and got hired as a retail employee selling their delicious cheeses. After a great year of employment I put in my two weeks notice to pursue wedding photography. A few months later Kris put a ring on Jenna’s finger (and a beautiful ring it is!). Of course they needed a photographer to capture their special day. Oh hey, that’s me! My former boss is now officially my client.
Let’s get a little more detailed as to how Kris got that ring on Jenna’s finger. After a minor setback to his originally-planned December 26th proposal, Kris re-planned to do it the 28th. The plan was to have an evening downtown and then come back to her house where he would ask her. With the help of Kris’ friend Jordan, the house would be perfectly set up as the romantic place to get down on one knee. That day Jenna texted him saying she was too tired to go downtown (classic Jenna) and that they should just get groceries and the hang out at her place. Kris called Jordan saying, “Change of plans. Jenna canceled. You have one hour to get the house ready and make it happen”. I should also mention that the house was a mess! Jordan outdid himself and got candles and rose petals, rearranged the furniture and shoved all the mess into the spare bedroom, while managing to get out of the house in time.
Kris & and an oblivious Jenna arrived at her house. Walking to the door there were candles lined all the way up the stairs. Jenna’s sister Emma (my other former boss) lives in the suite next door, so Jenna said, “Kris, is Emma having some cult meeting with her friends?” Then it dawned on her, “Kris, what’s going on? What’s going on?!”
The two of them opened the door in and stood in complete amazement when they saw how beautiful it looked inside. Kris got down on one knee, and Jenna said yes… and JENNA CRIED! (For those of you who know Jenna, that’s a big deal). All the while next door Emma and her friends are trying to listen through the door. Celebration and hugs followed shortly thereafter. And truly, the celebration has only begun! September is well on its way, which means Kris & Jenna’s wedding day!
